Cal Trask is particularly unfortunate young man. He sees himself as the black sheep of the family and is still competing with his brother Aaron, who seems to be perfect in almost every way. Aaron is also a favorite of their father Cal desperately wants his father's love and affection. It is a period that led to U.S. entry into the First World War, and these are turbulent times.
