Five young British nuns are invited to proceed to a boisterous "palace", former home of concubines a former general, on top of a mountain in Mopu, Himalaya, to put the monastery of Saint Faith Class, a school for children and girls, and a dispensary for local residents. Sister Clodagh (Deborah Kerr) is defined as the superior sister, and the connection to the rude culture is the government's representative Mr. Dean (David Farrar). The loneliness and exotic country and the presence of the chairman awake the innermost desires of the flesh of the sisters, and Ruth Sister (Kathleen Byron) is mad with temptation.
