Based on the book the Dumas club, written by Arturo Perez-Reverte. The doyen Corso, a dealer of a bit seedy rare book, is hired by a mysterious boss who has just entered of the possession of one of three only copies of the Nine Doors of the Kingdom of Blackness (a text of occult sciences of the 17th century said to give not thinkable power to his owner). The man rents Corso to find the two other copies and compare them with sound, but complications - so natural as supernatural - happen in every tower.

Le doyen Corso, un commerçant de livre rare un peu miteux, est engagé par un patron mystérieux qui vient d’entrer de la possession d’une des trois seules copies des Neuf Portes du Royaume de Ténèbres (un texte de sciences occultes du 17ème siècle a dit pour donner le pouvoir non imaginable à son propriétaire). L’homme loue Corso pour retrouver les deux autres copies et les comparer à son, mais les complications - tant naturel que surnaturel - surviennent à chaque tour.

La nièce Lucy de Mlle Marple est recrutée pour demander un emploi sur l’état dans les espoirs de trouver le corps. Quand elle le trouve dans un sarcophage ancien dans un égyptien d’habitation de dépendance et des trésors étrusques d’art, la police et Mlle Marple sont faits intervenir.
