When three General of star Irwin is transferred to a prison of military men of maximum safety, his guard, Colonel Winter, cannot hide his admiration towards the very decorated soldier and with experience. Irwin has been deprived of his line for the disobedience in a mission, but not of the reputation. John Marion Stryker is the ultimate marine Rifleman, a leader of gang of resistant gun which in 1943 is allocated a gang of new recruits saddled with three veterans and an old enemy of Stryker of the previous duties in Far East. A recruit in particlar is a source of friction with Stryker, Peter Conway, whose father was STRYKER' S CO in Guadalcanal and who thought that his son was too soft and cowardly to be a marine Rifleman.
