Roland Rat, Margaret Thatcher; the Cubes of Rubik, Royal Marriage; aerobics, skinheads. It is 1983 and schools disintegrate for summer. Shaun is 12 years old and a bit of loner, developing with his mum in a menacing coastal city, his papa killed the fight in the war of Islands Malouines. On his way at the home of the school where it was tormented all day long to carry flare, it hits a group of skinheads, which counters wait turn out to be nice and to take it under their wing. Soon Shaun discovers parties, girls and sent sauce and finds some models in Afforested, In The milk and the rest of the gang. But when one older, the openly racist skinhead comes back the home of the prison, the easy comradeship of the group is broken and Shaun is drawn in much more uncomfortable territory. Based greatly on his own experience as a young person, it is the film the most grown-up and absolutely given an account of Shane Meadow. By manipulating the complicacy of masculinity, violence and running with feelings and a clarity of contact, it is hard to imagine a film which would capture the mood of time better, or it could have a little bigger an understanding of attraction to be part of a gang.

Shaun a 12 ans et un peu de solitaire, se développant avec sa maman dans une ville côtière menaçante, son papa a tué la bagarre dans la guerre d’Îles Malouines. Sur sa voie à la maison de l’école où il a été tourmenté tout le jour pour porter des flamboiements, il heurte un groupe de skinheads, qui contre les attentes se révèlent être sympathiques et le prendre sous leur aile. Bientôt Shaun découvre des partis, des filles et une sauce bien envoyée et trouve quelques modèles dans Boisé, Au lait et le reste du gang. Mais quand un plus vieux, le skinhead ouvertement raciste revient à la maison de la prison, la camaraderie facile du groupe est cassée et Shaun est tiré dans beaucoup plus de territoire inconfortable. Basé grandement sur sa propre expérience comme un jeune, c’est le film le plus adulte et complètement rendu compte de Shane Meadow. En manipulant les complexités de masculinité, violence et course avec la sensibilité et une clarté de contact, il est dur d’imaginer un film qui capturerait mieux l’humeur du temps, ou cela pourrait avoir un peu plus grand une compréhension de l’attrait de faire partie d’un gang.
