The island of Iwo Jima stands between the American military force and the home islands of Japan. Therefore, the Japanese Imperial Army is desperate as to prevent from falling into American hands and provide the launching point for the invasion of Japan. General Tadamichi Kuribayashi is given command of forces on the island and determined to prepare for the impending attack. General Kuribayashi, however, is a service of rigid traditional approach recommended by his subordinates, and resentment and resistance fester among his staff. In the lower echelons, a young soldier, Saigo, a poor baker in civilian life, strives with his friends to survive in the severe regime of the Japanese army itself, all the while knowing that the fierce battle camps. When the American invasion begins, both Kuribayashi and Saigo find strength, honor, courage and horrors beyond imagination.

The Kaneda is a leader of group of bicycle whose friend shut Tetsuo it is implicated in a secret project of the government known like Akira. The film is in charge of the situation of British prisoners of war during the Second World war who are ordered to construct a bridge to lodge the railway of Burma-Siam. Their instinct must sabotage the bridge, but, conducted by colonel Nicholson (Alec Guinness), they are persuaded that the bridge should be constructed as a symbol of British morale, mind and respectability in the hostile circumstances. At the beginning, the prisoners admire Nicholson when he endures courageously torment rather than compromise his principles aimed at the Japanese commander Saito (Sessue Hayakawa). He is an arrogant but honorable man, who is slowly revealed to be obsessive one deceiving. It persuades himself that the bridge is a monument with British character, but a monument really belongs to him and her emphasis on its building becomes a subtle form of collaboration with the enemy. In February of 1945, one of the most fierce battles of the Peaceful theatre of Second World war occurs on the very small island of Iwo Jima. Thousands of marine Riflemen attack the citadel supported by thousands of Japanese and the butchery is on both sides horrific. Early in battle, an American flag is raised atop the high point, the Mount Suribachi and a photograph of lifting becomes an American celebre reason. As a powerful inspiration to the Americans malades-de-guerre, the photograph becomes a symbol of Allied reason.
