Film version of stage musical, based on stories by Sholom Aleichem. Tevye the milkman is a Jewish peasant in pre-Revolutionary Russia, coping with everyday problems of 'shtetl' life, his Jewish traditions, his family (spouse and children), and state-sanctioned pogroms.
