Meduzot (the Hebrew word for Jellyfish) tells the story of three very different Israeli women living in Tel Aviv whose intersecting stories weave an unlikely portrait of modern Israeli life. Batya, a catering waitress, takes in a young child apparently abandoned at a local beach. Batya is one of the servers at the wedding reception of Keren, a young bride who breaks her leg in trying to escape from a locked toilet stall, which ruins her chance at a romantic honeymoon in the Caribbean. One of the guests is Joy, a Philippine chore woman attending the event with her employer, and who doesn't speak any Hebrew (she communicates mainly in English), and who is guilt-ridden after having left her young son behind in the Philippines. |

A crisis forces a family to mend old wounds in this drama from French filmmaker Robert Guediguian. Anna (Ariane Ascaride) is a heart surgeon who lives and works in Marseilles; her late mother was Italian, and her curmudgeonly father Barsam (Marcel Bluwal) was born and raised in Armenia. Anna has issues with Barsam, believing he was pitilessly cruel to her mother, but she still looks after him, and when she diagnoses him with a serious cardiac condition, Anna schedules him for surgery. However, Barsam does not want to have the operation, and without warning he leaves Marseilles to pay a visit to the small town of his birth. Desperate to find Barsam, Anna turns to his old friend Yervanth (Gerard Meylan), who offers only the most grudging assistance as she flies to Armenia in search of her dad. Raven-haired, 14-year-old Arab boy Sami Benboudaoud (Samy Seghir) enjoys growing up in the rough-natured but familiar town of Chalon-sur-Saône, where he spends his time palling around with several buddies. But when his mother (Farida Khelfa) takes a job on a cruise ship, Sami gets yanked out of the community against his will and dropped into the custody of his financially comfy aunt and uncle, who live in Neuilly. Sami instantly becomes a fish out of water, and must face a number of formidable nemeses, including his obnoxious cousin, Charles (Jeremy Denisty) whose chief ambition is to become one of Sarkozy's successors, and a bigoted WASP-y school that perceives all Arabs as "scum," mirroring a notoriously racist, well-publicized remark from Sarkozy himself. Sami also falls hard for his cute, blonde, super-intellectual classmate Marie (Josephine Japy), who doesn't exactly warm to the idea of dating someone with Sami's ethnic background. |

Avril is a novice in a convent of "Baptistine" sisters, a monastic order which was officially dissolved by the end of the nineteenth century but that is kept alive by Mère Marie Joseph, the sadistic superior. The rule she imposes on the nuns is particularly strict but this is all Avril has ever known since she was born, for she was an abandoned child raised by the nuns with a view to making one of them. The story is set at the beginning of the 20th century in Sicily. Salvatore, a very poor farmer, and a widower, decides to emigrate to the US with all his family, including his old mother. Before they embark, they meet Lucy. She is supposed to be a British lady and wants to come back to the States. Lucy, or Luce as Salvatore calls her, for unknown reasons wants to marry someone before to arrive to Ellis Island in New York. Salvatore accepts the proposal. Once they arrive in Ellis Island they spend the quarantine period trying to pass the examinations to be admitted to the States. Tests are not so simple for poor farmers coming from Sicily. Their destiny is in the hands of the custom officers. |

On the Christmas Eve of 1914, in the Western Front in France in World War I, the Scottish, the German and the French troops have a moment of truce and share moments of peace and friendship. When the soprano Anna Sorensen succeeds in convincing the Prussian Prince to join her tenor husband Nikolaus Sprink to sing for the German high command, Sprink brings her to the front to sing for his comrades in the trench. The Scottish Lieutenant Gordon and the French Lieutenant Audebert have an informal and unauthorized meeting with the German Lieutenant Horstmayer and negotiate a truce for that night, and the priest Palmer celebrates a mass for the soldiers. When their superiors become aware of the event, they have to pay for the consequence of their acts. |

Franssou, a charming Parisian English teacher, who shares part of her life with a boring middle-aged lover, dreams of another life. So, when she unexpectedly inherits 50,000 euros, she grasps the opportunity and goes to the French Riviera in order to take it easy in luxury. In the four-star hotel where she rents a room she comes across Stéphane, a strange guy who is in the process of arranging Elton John's next coming to the place. Intrigued by the noisy ostentatious fellow, she follows him until she finally comes into contact with him. She knows Stéphane is at bay and decides to take advantage of it. |
