When his widowed father M. Bread (Jean Rochefort) hires Mme Vernet (Dominique Blanc) to be his governess to look after him, and she brings along her son (who is the same age) to provide him with a playmate. Thomas (Regis Arpin) is not amused. After all, he muses, Je suis le seigneur de chateau (I'm the king of the castle). The two youngsters declare war on each other, and the battle rages on while the lads' parents grow increasingly fond of each other. Meanwhile, the governess's husband has been reported to be missing in action in the French-Indochinese War, to the distress of her son Charles (David Behar). |

Pete is a pilot who drops water on forest fires at very low heights. His intended Dorinda is also a pilot who doubles as a radio controller for the pilots who do this work. Pete always takes chances, confident that his skill will bring him through. One day it doesn't and he is killed. He finds himself returning as an invisible ghost who's presence is barely felt giving advice to his successor. Pete then finds that his successor is also falling in love with Dorinda. |

Lt. Kinderman and Father Dyer cheer each other up on the anniversary of the death of their mutual friend, Father Damien Karras, by going to see "It's a Wonderful Life" at the local theater in Georgetown, near Washington D.C. But there's no cheering Kinderman while a particularly cruel and gruesome serial killer is at large. His murders, which involve torture, decapitation and the desecration of religious icons, is bad enough; but they also resemble those of the Gemini Killer, who has been dead for fifteen years. |

Truman Gates is a country boy, who left his home and moved to Chicago and became a cop. One of his brothers, who is a trucker, who followed Truman's lead and left, is going through Chicago but he crossed paths with the mob and is killed. Truman brings his brother to his home and is greeted coldly by his brother, Briar, who feels that Truman deserted the family. Truman promises to find his brother's killer but the family feels that it's a matter of honor and that they should do it themselves, so Briar goes to Chicago and is raising all sorts of hell to find the killer, while Truman searches for his brother's partner. |

A murderous TV repairman, Horace Pinker (Mitch Pileggi) is killing people in a small town left, right and center. He eventually finds the home of Lt. Parker (Michael Murphy), who is investigating his crimes, and savagely murders Parker's wife, son and daughter. His other son, Jonathan (Peter Berg) has a strange connection to Pinker through his dreams, and he directs his father to Pinker's business, where a small group of officers enter. Pinker escapes in a horrific spree, killing four officers and then targeting Jonathan's girlfriend, Alison. Another dream leads Jonathan and his dad to a residence where they catch Pinker in in the act of kidnapping. Pinker is arrested after a fight with Jonathan and sentenced to die in the electric chair. When executed, Pinker - who supposedly had given his soul to the devil in exchange for the power to come back as an energy source - takes over people's bodies and continues committing murders, until Jonathan devises a plan to bring Pinker into the real world, and then cut off his power source... |

During a routine flight, two veteran space shuttle pilots discover an alien artifact and bring it back to earth. It soon turns out to be an extraterristial war robot, which is able to recycle any biological or technical material for its own deadly use.
