An old man at a nursing home reads a history of an old woman every day. The history which he reads follows two young lovers called Allie Hamilton and Noah Calhoun. One evening they met in a carnival many years ago. The parents of Allie separate Noah and Allie. They disapprove of the lack of Noah in the wealth, and push away Allie. After the waiting for Noah to write them for several years Allie meets and gets engaged to a pretty young soldier called Lon. In a local newspaper the picture of Noah catches the eye of Allie. It is a standing position before an absolutely restored, house of 200 years old. The article is filled with the praise for his executions. The heart of Allie bursts almost.
