Based on the true history of Australian pianist David Helfgott, this enrapturing film concerns the card the first first and traumatic years. The narration of history in the flashback we see David as he grows and in a child prodigy while his father abuses him and his siblings with the memory of her childhood in Europe and the loss of his family in concentration camps. David breaks loose from his father finally and leaves for studying abroad, he is later subjected to a breakdown and comes back in Australia and a life in an institution. Many years ago later it is liberated and by several twists of destiny (in reality even more unlikely than the film represents) it begins play fact a piano in a bar before to be finally productive to the concert hall.

La narration de l’histoire dans le flash-back nous voyons David comme il grandit et dans un enfant prodige pendant que son père abuse de lui et son siblings avec la mémoire de son enfance en Europe et la perte de sa famille dans les camps de concentration. David se détache finalement de son père et part pour faire les études à l’étranger, il subit plus tard une panne et revient en Australie et une vie dans une institution. Il y a beaucoup d’années plus tard il est libéré et par plusieurs tortillons de destin (en réalité encore plus improbable que le film décrit) il commence jouer d’un piano dans un bar auparavant le fait de rendre finalement à la salle de concert.
