An idyllic cross of wild life disintegrates in the terror when a party of tourists is attacked to the espreita by a massive crocodile that eats the man. Pete McKell, American writer of travel cynical, joined an unequal group of excursionists in a cross of river for the waters of the National Park Kakadu. Inicialmente Pete estrepita com o seu capitão de viagem, Kate, mulher jovem agressiva que assume que ele é somente outro ‘vigarista da cidade’ à procura de uma emoção rápida. Depois de um dia monótono cruzando pelo rio, Kate é com relutância persuadido para dirigir o seu barco no território inexplorado. Eles descobrem um lago isolado mas greves de terror quando o seu ofício recebe um soco poderoso de baixo das profundidades escuras e começa a afundar-se.
