Film adaptation of the street the Epistle of tough Jim Carrolls about his kaleidoskopischen free case in the horrific world of the drug addiction. As a member of an apparently unbeatable basketball troop of the secondary school the life centres of Jim around the basketball court and the court become a metaphor for the world in his opinion. The best friend, that of leukaemia, a trainer (*quot; Swifty*quot;) dies who takes unacceptable freedoms with the boys on his team, sexual teenager’s fear, and an injurious appetite for heroin *mdash; everything of these begins to penetrate into the dream of the young Jim, to become a basketball star. The dark streets of New York soon become a hiding place of the rising worry of his mother for her son. He cannot go home, and his only escape from the reality of the streets is heroin for which he steals, robs and to itself prostitutes. Only with the help of Reggie an older neighborhood friend, with which is Jim *quot; a Spiel*quot; from time to time took up, he able to begin the long trip back to the reason.

When his longstanding girlfriend Becky does not say in marriage and in home that he constructed, the architect Newton Davis takes it badly. Three months ago later a nocturnal link with the livewire waitress Gwen becomes uncontrollable rather when she finds the home of dream, moves in and allows it to be known on a local level that she and Newton are married. Each in the small city takes him, by including his parents, while Becky shows renewed interest. When Newton realizes situation he suggests to Gwen that the continuance of deceit could have advantages as both.
