When Mr. Dashwood dies, he must leave the bulk goods of his state to the son by his first marriage, which leaves his second wife and three girls (Elinor, Marianne and Margaret) in the embarrassed circumstances. They are deceived by a nice cousin, but their lack of destiny affects the marriageability both of practical Elinor and romantic Marianne. When Elinor forms an attachment for rich Edward Ferrars, his family disapproves and separates them. And although Mrs.. Jennings tries to correspond to the nobleman (and rich man) the Colonel Burning wood to her, Marianne finds the impulse and Willoughby ignited more to his taste. Both reports are hard tried. But it is a novel and by tests and tearing of heart, true love and the happy end will find their way so much for the sister who is all sense that for the one who is all feelings.

Ils sont trompés par un cousin gentil, mais leur manque de fortune affecte le marriageability tant d’Elinor pratique que de romantique Marianne. Quand Elinor forme un attachement pour Edward Ferrars riche, sa famille désapprouve et les sépare. Et bien que Mme.. Jennings essaie de correspondre au noble (et riche) le Colonel Brandon à elle, Marianne trouve l’élan et Willoughby enflammé plus à son goût. Les deux rapports sont fortement essayés. Mais c’est un roman et par les épreuves et le déchirement de coeur, le vrai amour et une fin heureuse trouveront leur voie tant pour la soeur qui est tout le sens que pour celui qui est toute la sensibilité.
