Plot Summary: Tod Hackett, fresh from Yale, would like to see as art director in late 1930 in Hollywood - but finds himself increasingly distracted by his new neighbor Faye, a would-be starlet with possible designs for their own on the lonely, morose accountant. As Tod is made deeper in the lurid private life studio bosses and film industry workers, has gradually become desperate to know if Faye - or anyone - is capable of true love.
