Plot Summary:
Film adaptation of the street the Epistle of tough Jim Carrolls about his kaleidoskopischen free case in the horrific world of the drug addiction. As a member of an apparently unbeatable basketball troop of the secondary school the life centres of Jim around the basketball court and the court become a metaphor for the world in his opinion. The best friend, that of leukaemia, a trainer (*quot; Swifty*quot;) dies who takes unacceptable freedoms with the boys on his team, sexual teenager’s fear, and an injurious appetite for heroin *mdash; everything of these begins to penetrate into the dream of the young Jim, to become a basketball star. The dark streets of New York soon become a hiding place of the rising worry of his mother for her son. He cannot go home, and his only escape from the reality of the streets is heroin for which he steals, robs and to itself prostitutes. Only with the help of Reggie an older neighborhood friend, with which is Jim *quot; a Spiel*quot; from time to time took up, he able to begin the long trip back to the reason.
Filmanpassung der Straße die Epistel des zähen Jim Carrolls über seinen kaleidoskopischen freien Fall in die grauenhafte Welt der Drogenabhängigkeit. Als ein Mitglied eines anscheinend unschlagbaren Basketball-Trupps der Höheren Schule werden die Lebenszentren von Jim um das Basketball-Gericht und das Gericht eine Metapher für die Welt in seiner Meinung. Ein bester Freund, der von Leukämie, ein Trainer ("Swifty") stirbt, wer unannehmbare Freiheiten mit den Jungen auf seiner Mannschaft, sexueller Teenagerangst, und einem ungesunden Appetit auf Heroin *mdash nimmt; alle von diesen beginnen, in den Traum des jungen Jim vorzudringen, ein Basketball-Stern zu werden. Bald werden die dunklen Straßen New Yorks ein Unterschlupf von der steigenden Sorge seiner Mutter für ihren Sohn. Er kann nicht nach Hause gehen, und seine einzige Flucht aus der Wirklichkeit der Straßen ist Heroin, für das er stiehlt, ausraubt und sich prostituiert. Nur mit der Hilfe von Reggie ist ein älterer Nachbarschaft-Freund, mit dem Jim "ein Spiel" ab und an aufnahm, er fähig, die lange Reise zurück zur Vernunft zu beginnen.
