Plot Summary:
This is the time of the Crusades during the Middle age - the world collision of 200 years that it forms between Europe and the East. Called Balian of a blacksmith has lost his family and almost his faith. The religious wars that are furious in the Holy remote Earth seem to him remote, he is still thrown in that immense drama. Between the show and the intrigues of the medieval Jerusalem he falls down lover, turns into a leader, and finally it uses all his courage and skill of defending the city against amazing probabilities. The destination has looking for Balian to the form of a big gentleman, Godfrey de Ibelin, Crossed briefly to house to France of fighting in the East. Being revealed as the father of Balian, Godfrey shows him the real sense of the gentleman’s title and takes in a trip across continents the fabulous Holy City. In Jerusalem in that moment - between the Second and Third Crusades - a fragile peace prevails, for the efforts of his Christian educated king, Baldwin IV, helped by his adviser Tiberias, and the military restriction of the leader legendary Musulmán Saladin. But the days of Baldwin are numbered, and the tensions of the fanaticism, avarice, and the jealousy between the Crossed ones threatens to break the truce. The vision of king Baldwin of the peace - a kingdom of sky - is shared by a gentlemen’s fistful, even Godfrey de Ibelin, those who swear to support it with his lives and honor. When Godfrey spends his sword to his son, he also spends that sacred oath: to protect the defenseless one, safeguard the peace, and work towards the harmony between religions and cultures, so that a kingdom of sky could prosper in the ground. The Balian takes the sword and walks in the history.
