Plot Summary:
Inksetter in New York, Quoyle returns to the long-term house of his family, a small fishing city in the Newfoundland, with his young daughter, after a traumatising experience with her mother, petal who sold them to an unlawful adoption agency. Although Quoyle has had little success so far in the life, his ship news column finds in the newspaper *quot; the lame Vogel*quot; an audience, and his experiences in the city change his life. Then he meets the widow Wavey.
Ein inksetter in New York, Quoyle kehrt zum langfristigen Haus seiner Familie, einer kleinen Fischenstadt im Neufundland, mit seiner jungen Tochter, nach einer traumatisierenden Erfahrung mit ihrer Mutter, Blütenblatt zurück, wer sie an eine ungesetzliche Adoptionsagentur verkaufte. Obwohl Quoyle wenig Erfolg so weit im Leben gehabt hat, findet seine Schiffsnachrichtensäule in der Zeitung "Der Lahme Vogel" ein Publikum, und seine Erfahrungen in der Stadt ändern sein Leben. Dann trifft er die Witwe Wavey.
